Tilt or buttons? Choosing controls in mobile racers
Every mobile racer asks the same question early on: tilt steering or on-screen buttons. There's no universal right answer, but there are patterns worth knowing before you commit.
Tilt tends to shine in drift-heavy arcade games where smooth, continuous steering matters. Your whole hand does the work, and it often feels more natural once you calibrate the sensitivity down a notch.
Buttons are better when a game rewards precise, sudden inputs or when you're playing somewhere you can't tilt comfortably, like on a bus. They're also easier to learn, so they're a fine starting point.
My routine is to try both for a few laps, then check my times honestly rather than my gut feeling. I've been surprised more than once by which one was actually faster for me.
